Show Review

The inaugural Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas in early September 2008 at the Long Beach Convention Center, California was a huge success.

Launched to provide a showcase and networking opportunities for both Americas based and international suppliers to meet and network with the regions Airlines and supply chain.   Key interior buyers from over 40 airlines attended the event, 14 of which don’t visit Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, the Worlds largest aircraft interior event.

‘Flying in the 21st Century’, our free to attend strategy forum, took place for the first time ever at an Interiors event and both attendees and exhibitors felt that the seminars were completely on target and extremely relevant to challenges faced in the volatile airline industry.  There were few sessions that weren’t standing room only.  The success of this will see the new seminar brand feature at other Aircraft Interiors Expo events addressing the ever changing issues affecting the industry.

Breakthrough products like massage seats, unusual seating configurations, JetBrellas to protect jet engines from exposure to the elements; photoluminescent emergency lighting systems, a Bio-Protection System, which destroys 99 percent of bio contaminants in the airline cabin; “A Loo With a View”, a deluxe lavatory aimed at premium cabins, and a premium class bar designed for the new Boeing 787 were just a few of the 123 exhibits.

The event was successfully co-located with the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) Annual Conference.

23 members of the media from daily newspapers, major airline trade and aircraft interiors trade publications and bloggers covered the expo.  And feedback from among the exhibitors and attendees was extremely favorable.

“The show was a huge success for us.  It was a well planned and well run event” said Christopher Sevier, Avia Dynamics Corp.

“The show was very well organized and there was good traffic flow”, This was our first time at this show and we had some good leads”said Bryan Bowman of Aplix, Inc

“The quality of interest was good with serious enquiries,” said John Ward, CIT Ltd.

“The traffic was fantastic and the attendees who came through were just the right target audience,” added John Nicholas of SABIC.

Going forward, Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas will run biennially and the next edition will take place in Long Beach from the 14 – 16 Sept 2010, following the successful co-location with the World Airline Entertainment Association, the event will also co-locate with International Flight Services Association (IFSA) in 2010 creating a one-stop-shop for the cabin interior and a must attend event for the regions airlines.
